The Mallee Family Care Psychosocial Therapy Service (PTS) offers support and is committed to effective outcomes for children under 13 years of age, with low to moderate needs, requiring brief psychological interventions.

The primary responsibility of this position is to:
  • Promote an integrated, multi-discipline, intervention approach to support children presenting with mild to moderate levels of mental health disorders (and their families/carers) which is based upon the ‘Stepped Care’ approach.
  • Deliver evidence based psychological treatment options tailored to children and their families. These may include individual, group and family-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); psychoeducational therapy; behavioural therapy; and parent training in behaviour management.
  • Offer referral pathway and linkages to community stakeholders, including general practitioners (GPs) to support them in the primary mental health care setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate/post graduate qualifications, specifically:
  • Bachelor degree qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Psychiatric Nursing; and/or
  • Post graduate (Master’s/Doctoral degree) in a mental health related field; and/or
Other related allied health or social/behavioural sciences disciplines that meet the professional requirements of the service and as agreed by the Agency.
Registered or eligible for registration or membership with AHPRA, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, AASW, or other relevant professional body (according to specific professional discipline).
Child related knowledge and skills, gained through additional professional and skills development and/or a minimum of two years’ experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents, adults and families.
A current driver’s licence and a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
Experience and demonstrated knowledge in working with clients with complex needs specifically in the area of mental health/behavioural support; family violence; child protection; and/or family relationships.
