Position Description: Intensive Family Preservation Worker

The Intensive Family Preservation Worker is required to work as part of a responsive and dedicated Child and Family Services team who are responsible for providing case management and support to achieve outcomes for families with children and young people who are at risk of entering Out of Home Care (OOHC). Intensive Family Preservation is a voluntary program. The Worker will provide intensive support services that will strengthen the parent’s ability to respond to the needs of their children and young people by implementing goals and strategies. They will also support families in order to implement goals and strategies to help build their parenting capacity to provide safe and nurturing environments free from risk of harm. Intensive Family Preservations main objective is to do everything possible to prevent children entering foster care by assessing both risks and strengths of families identified by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) at risk of significant harm.
Qualifications and Experience:

A person employed as an Intensive Family Preservation Worker will be required to hold an accredited qualification relevant to the position at Degree Level or above, have a passion and commitment for supporting children and families across the child and family support/child protection continuum and ideally have transferrable practice experience in the sector or similar fields.

Diploma level qualification in relevant field may be considered, on the proviso that the applicant will commit to undertake further Tertiary studies with the support of the Organisation.

Experience in dealing with children who have experienced trauma and interrupted attachment would be an advantage.

A current driver’s licence, a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
