The Placement Support Worker role supports the delivery of both Home Based Care and Targeted Care Packages programs funded through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The Home Based Care is a program that provides care to children and young people who cannot live with their families for a variety of reasons. The program provides supported home based placements with approved foster carers within our community. Placements are provided on either a voluntary or statutory basis. The Targeted Care Packages program enables the transition of eligible children and young people from residential care to more suitable care arrangements, where their overall needs will be better met. Alternative placements which could be considered as part of the package include placements with parents, family/friends, Home Base Care, independent/semi-independent living or other identified forms of care/accommodation. The packages include an allocation of funding tailored to the needs of each individual child. This position will provide support to children, young people and carers of both these programs. This role requires a strong and coordinated team approach.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A person employed as a Placement Support Worker will be required to hold an accredited qualification relevant to the position at Degree Level or above, have a passion and commitment for supporting children and families across the child and family support/child protection continuum and ideally have transferrable practice experience in the sector or similar fields.
  • Diploma level qualification in relevant field may be considered, on the proviso that the applicant will commit to undertake further Tertiary studies with the support of the Organisation.
  • Experience in dealing with children who have experienced trauma and interrupted attachment would be an advantage.
  • A current drivers licence, a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
For you to be considered for this role, all applications must be submitted with a Cover Letter, Resume and the Key Selection Criteria addressed, which can be found in the position description.
